Ludoteca and Toy Museum

Ludoteca (children's play-centre) and Toy Museum of Évora

The Ludoteca (children's play-centre) and Toy Museum of Évora are two spaces that work in the same building, located inside the Public Garden in Évora, more specifically at the children's playground.

Ludoteca of Évora

The Ludoteca is a very pleasant space where the teacher in charge, accompanies the children in their games. There are lots of toys, games and books for kids to enjoy when they are tired of strolling through the streets of Évora.

Toy Museum of Évora

In order to visit the Toy Museum, you will have to ask the person in charge of Ludoteca to give you access to the other part of the building. Several toy collections, mostly from the 40s and 50s of the 20th century, are on display. Although the space is small, there are lots of different types of toys.

  • Musical toys
  • Traditional toys (handmade, wooden and wire)
  • Military toys
  • Means of transport
  • Games
  • Doll Houses
  • Dolls
  • Additional parts

Even if you are not traveling with children, be sure to take a brief tour of this space.

Especially curious, are the traditional toys on display at the Toy Museum, which parents and grandparents talked about, remembering the games they had when they were children.

There is also in the small museum, a fascinating old train still in operation. Ask to see it take a few laps, and picture yourself traveling through the Alentejo.
