With its doors open since 1999, and located in Largo do Chão das Covas, the Casa da Balança is a museological unit of Metrology.
The exhibition displays a representative permanent collection of the history of Metrology in Portugal with measuring instruments from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. This permanent exhibition typifies the calibration workshop at Évora City Council, which was inactivated in 1993.
The goals of Casa da Balança are to study, preserve, valorise and disseminate its heritage fund. Accordingly, offers free or guided visits to its permanent collection and has its own program of activities for the public, on the premises and in itinerancy.
