With the doors opened since 1999 and situated at Largo do Chão das Covas, the Casa da Balança is a museological unit of metrology.
Displays a permanent collection of the history of metrology in Portugal with measuring instruments from the 15th century to the 20th century. The permanent exhibition presents the measuring workshop from the Municipality of Évora, disabled in 1993.
Studying, maintaining, valuing and disseminating its heritage fund are the goals of Casa da Balança and, in this sense, offers free visits or guided visits to its permanent collection and has its own program of activities for the public, in its space and in itinerancy.
