The Eugénio de Almeida Forum is a space dedicated to the promotion of artistic and cultural actions, guided by social commitment and sustainable practices, that rely on a multidisciplinary, formative and inclusive program, materialized through exhibitions, with a special focus on contemporary art, as well as in the organization of performative projects and pedagogical programs oriented to the sensitization and motivation of different audiences.
The Eugénio de Almeida Forum consists of two floors, which comprises a temporary exhibition area with 1200 m2 and two specialized spaces: the Rostrum room, designed for the latest trends and experimental projects, and the Atrium space. It also has an auditorium, multipurpose rooms, meeting and conference center, leisure areas (restaurant, cafeteria and wine bar) and shop. The exterior area includes Páteo de Honra, Jardim Norte and Jardim das Casas Pintadas, whose gallery includes a unique example in Portugal of palatial mural painting from the second half of the 16th century. The total is over 3000 m2 (2382 m2 of the Inquisition Palace and Casas Pintadas and 811 m2 of the Multipurpose Rooms and Auditorium).
The building of the Eugénio de Almeida Forum is the result of the renovation of the built heritage of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, within the framework of the partnership, for the urban regeneration of the city bringing together the Palace of the Inquisition, Casas Pintadas and the former Eugénio de Almeida Forum.
