Wei sempre teve dificuldade em corresponder às expectativas dos pais, que parecem estar sempre insatisfeitos com tudo o que ele faz. Quando conhece Shuo, um rapaz reservado, inteligente e dedicado, oriundo de uma família disfuncional, convida-o para sua casa. Rapidamente, os dois tornam-se próximos, e os pais de Wei acolhem Shuo com entusiasmo, na esperança de que as diferenças notórias entre eles exerçam uma influência positiva sobre o filho. Contudo, à medida que a amizade se aprofunda, a presença de Shuo naquela família intensifica ainda mais as tensões e os conflitos.
