Palácio dos Duques de Cadaval
A primeira pedra do Convento dos Lóios de Évora foi lançada em 1487, por iniciativa do primeiro conde de Olivença, D. Rodrigo de Melo, guarda-mor do rei D. Afonso V, e também Governador de Tânger, que dois anos antes iniciara a construção da igreja anexa (da invocação de São João Evangelista), destinada a panteão de família.
Construído sobre o que restava de um castelo medieval, o convento constitui um excelente testemunho arquitetónico do Tardo-Gótico alentejano.
Destaca-se, no piso térreo, a entrada da antiga Sala do Capítulo, já quinhentista, rasgada por um exuberante portal mainelado com arcos em ferradura, perfeito exemplar da arquitetura regional manuelino-mudéjar. Nesta mesma porta está um medalhão evocando a participação de D. Rodrigo na Batalha de Azamor, em 1508, pelo que as obras desta sala terão datação aproximada. SML
